Vehicle Impound & Release Info

Check out the towing weight tables we provide per model or towing your vehicle's handbook for maximum braked and unbraked towing weights. I already owned a truck but didn't know how much it could tow and when I looked it up online I got multiple answers that varied between 5,000 pounds and 9,100 pounds. A. Any private company that tows and stores any vehicle pursuant to this Chapter, shall have a lien on the vehicle, in accordance with ORS 87.152, for the just and reasonable charges for the tow and storage services performed.

There are also some legal limits on laden weight of unbraked trailers, which you will need to know for your particular vehicle. The maximum allowable drop fee is half the rate for towing the vehicle. You can stop by the police department at any time and request a tow hearing form.

C. The City officer or employee ordering a vehicle to be towed pursuant to this Section will notify the Police Bureau of the location of the towed vehicle within 1 hour after the completion of the tow. Gooseneck hitches use a ball mount, but are mounted on a central position on the underside of a truckbed, for increased stability and more even weight distribution.

If you think your vehicle has been towed by the Council, phone our Contact Centre on 04 499 4444 and we will tell you where your vehicle has been moved to. If your vehicle was towed because of an ongoing criminal investigation, the investigating sergeant must remove any holds on the vehicle before you can get it back.

With these safety tips in mind, you can trailer your boat with confidence and focus on having a fun, relaxing time on the water instead of worrying about breaking down on the side of the road. Payload is the weight of all of the gear, passengers plus the tongue weight of the trailer, it does NOT include the weight of your vehicle.

There is few situations more frightening than looking at your rear view mirror and seeing the side of the vehicle you're towing or the trailer - pay close attention to loading and closer attention to handling until you get well on the road and get a feel for how it's going to pull.
